The last RVM program of the season celebrates talented young South Shore musicians!
To start the summer season on a youthful air, pianistcomposer Marie-Andrée Ostiguy prepared a special RENDEZ-VOUS EN MUSIQUE program celebrating the excellence of young South Shore musicians.
In this last broadcast of the season, Marie-Andrée Ostiguy interviews Lysandre Ménard, a 16 year-old pianist from Boucherville, winner of the 2010 Grand Prize of the Choeur de la montagne music competition. In Marie-Andrée’s studio, she performs two pieces by Frédéric Chopin. She also presents a video excerpt from her
recent performance of the first movement of Sergeï Rachmaninov’s second piano concerto with the Orchestre symphonique pop de Montréal, under the direction of
Mark Dharmaratnam.
Marie-Andrée Ostiguy then meets Martin Blais, young flautist from Saint-Hubert, who performs the Fantasy #6 in d minor for solo flute by Georg Philipp Telemann, and
the cellist David Bouchard, from Brossard, who performs the 2nd movement of Dimitri Shostakovitch’s cello sonata. Both musicians are members of l’Orchestre
des jeunes de la Montérégie, the interviews are completed by excerpts of their solo performances with the youth symphony, under the direction of Luc Chaput.
These interviews are held in Marie-Andrée Ostiguy’s studio, surrounded by the paintings of visual artist Claudette Poirier, from Saint-Constant. Finally, Marie-
Andrée Ostiguy completes the program with a piano performance accompanied by the musicians of the Artémuse String Quartet, and a listing of concerts to come in
the region.
